Fundamental 10 Steps 10h 46m 62 Credits
This fundamental-level quest is unique amongst the other Qwiklabs offerings. The labs have been curated to give IT professionals hands-on practice with topics and services that appear in the Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer Certification. From IAM, to networking, to Kubernetes engine deployment, this quest is composed of specific labs that will put your GCP knowledge to the test. Be aware that while practice with these labs will increase your skills and abilities, we recommend that you also review the exam guide and other available preparation resources.
Prerequisites
This Quest expects familiarity with GCP Services, particularly those in computing and networking. It is recommended that the student have earned a Badge by completing the hands-on labs in the Baseline: Infrastructure and/or the GCP Essentials Quests before beginning. Additional lab experience with the Security and Identity Fundamentals and the Kubernetes In the Google Cloud Quests will be useful.Quest Outline
Cloud IAM: Qwik Start
Google Cloud IAM unifies access control for Cloud Platform services into a single system to present a consistent set of operations. Watch the short video Manage Access Control with Google Cloud IAM.
Set Up Network and HTTP Load Balancers
In this hands-on lab, you'll learn how setup both network load balancers and HTTP load balancers for your application running in Google Compute Engine virtual machines. Watch the short preview Set Up Network & HTTP Load Balancers, GCP Essentials.
Networking 101
In this lab you will learn how to perform basic networking tasks on Google Cloud Platform by setting up a network and 3 subnetworks; and how GCP might differ from an on-premises setup.
Networking 102
Properly secured networks control connections and access into, out of, and among your resources. In this lab, you will practice deploying Networks and Subnetworks in two different GCP projects and multiple instances within the Google Cloud.
Getting Started with Cloud KMS
In this lab you'll work with advanced features of Google Cloud Security and Privacy APIs, including setting up a secure Cloud Storage bucket, managing keys and encrypted data using Key Management Storage, and viewing Cloud Storage audit logs.
Orchestrating the Cloud with Kubernetes
In this lab you will learn how to: Provision a complete Kubernetes cluster using Google Container Engine; Deploy and manage Docker containers using kubectl; and Break an application into microservices using Kubernetes’ Deployments and Services.
Stackdriver: Qwik Start
This lab shows you how to monitor a Google Compute Engine virtual machine (VM) instance with Stackdriver. Watch the short videos Monitor Health of All Your Cloud Apps with Google Stackdriver and Monitor a VM Instance with Stackdriver, GCP Essentials.
Deployment Manager - Full Production
In this lab you will launch a service using Deployment Manager, and monitor it using Stackdriver. You will set up basic black box monitoring with Stackdriver Dashboard and establish uptime check alert notification to trigger incident response.
Continuous Delivery Pipelines with Spinnaker and Kubernetes Engine
Create a Kubernetes Engine cluster, deploy an application, and use Spinnaker to continuously deploy the application when changes are made to the application.
Site Reliability Troubleshooting with Stackdriver APM
The objective of this lab is to familiarize yourself with the specific capabilities of Stackdriver to monitor GKE cluster infrastructure, Istio, and applications deployed on this infrastructure.
