Windows on GCP
Expert 11 Steps 1 day 65 Credits
The Google Cloud Platform is committed to supporting Windows workloads in its frameworks and services. In this advanced-level quest, you will get hands you hands-on practice running many of the popular Windows services in GCP. For example, you will learn how to instantiate Microsoft SQL databases, cloud tools for Powershell, and Microsoft’s ASP.net (web app framework) on Google Cloud Platform frameworks.
Prerequisites:This Quest requires proficiency in using Microsoft Windows server workloads and app frameworks. Hands-on experience with GCP Services, particularly those relating to Compute, App, and Kubernetes Engines is also expected. It is recommended that the student have at least earned a Badge by completing the hands-on labs in the Cloud Architecture Quest before beginning. Additional lab experience with the labs in the Deploying Applications Quest will also be useful.
Google Compute Engine lets you create and run virtual machines on Google infrastructure. In this lab you create a Windows Server instance in the Google Compute Engine and access it with RDP. Watch a short preview, Launch a Windows Server Instance, GCP Essentials.
In this lab you will learn how to create a virtual machine with Microsoft SQL Server installed. You’ll also create a Windows user and password and learn how to connect to the Windows Server via remote desktop.
In this lab you will learn how to create a Windows VM for containers on Compute Engine, then create an image with a HelloWorld PowerShell script and run that image as a Windows container.
In this lab you will learn all about Google Cloud Platform Tools for PowerShell. You will practice installation, authentication, working with Compute Engine from PowerShell, as well as how to backup data to Google Cloud Storage from PowerShell.
In this lab, you’ll learn how to build and launch an ASP.NET Core app from Google Cloud Shell -- without ever leaving the browser.
This lab shows you how to monitor a Google Compute Engine virtual machine (VM) instance with Stackdriver. Watch the short videos Monitor Health of All Your Cloud Apps with Google Stackdriver and Monitor a VM Instance with Stackdriver, GCP Essentials.
In this lab you will learn how to create a virtual machine with Windows Server and the ASP.NET framework installed. Then you will create a Windows user and password and learn how to remote desktop into the Windows Server.
In this lab, you will deploy a simple ASP.NET Core app to App Engine Flexible environment. This lab builds on the "Build and Launch an ASP.NET Core app from Google Cloud Shell" lab.
In this lab, you learn how to turn your ASP.NET Core code into a Docker container image, and then run that image as a replicated application running on Kubernetes on Google Container Engine (GKE).
In this lab you will configure a highly available SQL Server configuration. NOTE: This lab sets up a lab infrastructure when launched, which takes approximately 20 minutes to fully provision and configure.
In this Qwiklab, you set up a redundant pair of Windows Domain Controllers (DC) with AD using a new Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) network and multiple subnets on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
